Welcome to the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Established by Edward Blanchard Sr. and his wife Beverly in 1973, the couple purchased an antique Cape home situated on a former farm and started their business. The couple had strong ties to their community and its residents, ensuring it operated with the Blanchards’ motto of ‘Dignified, Dedicated Service to All’. The Blanchard Funeral Chapel has developed an exceptional reputation as a trusted establishment in Whitman and its surrounding communities.
The funeral home continued to be a family operated business for more than forty years. Edward and Beverly’s daughter, Jolene, and son-in-law, Robert Tonello, ran the funeral home for more than twenty years. In early 2021, the couple decided to step down and sell the business to co-owner, Steven Leonard.
Steven Leonard, a life-long resident of Hanson, began working at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel in 1997. After graduating from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, Steven went on to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, he attended Mount Ida College, New England Institute, where he gained a degree in Mortuary Science. Steven has been in the funeral service industry for over twenty-three years and holds licenses as a Funeral Director and Embalmer which he obtained in 1999.
The Blanchard Funeral Chapel is located at the rotary in Whitman. The facility includes generous off street parking that can accommodate more than 75 vehicles. It has two sizable viewing rooms that can seat up to 80 people. The Chapel is one level and ADA compliant for those who may be physically challenged.
Steven continues to exemplify the tradition that Edward and Beverly instilled years ago – ‘Dignified, Dedicated Service to All’.
